Length of Service

There has been some discussion lately regarding the length of service of some of our elected representatives. Some have served for longer than they originally pledged. Some have viewed their election as an entitlement once they gained office. If elected, I will serve for one term and evaluate how effective I have been as your representative on the Board of Education. I would also consider my family situation. If I am elected to a second term, that term would complete my service—two terms maximum.

I view the opportunity to represent my community on the board of education as service. It would not be my social outlet, my pastime or my sense of self-worth. I believe that any ideas that I have can be studied and implemented within eight years. I believe that experience on the Board can help to a certain degree, but a new perspective will keep the Board vibrant and innovative to the constantly changing educational climate.

Eight years maximum. That’s a pledge you can count on.
